Description

Number 86 Street is a town house that has been converted into a shop, with disused accommodation above. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and was built alongside Number 84 Street. The building is constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond and features a roof made of small grey slates. It stands three storeys high and has a painted stone plinth with a small opening for the cellar.

The east-facing recessed porch has four damaged stone steps leading to the house door, which features a pair of upper panels that are now glazed, a middle pair that is fielded, and a lower pair that is flush. Above the door is an overlight with radial bars linked by scrolled looped bars and a rendered lintel. There is also a replaced shop door with an overlight and a plain shop window.

On the upper storeys, there are two flush sash windows on each level, now with four panes, all having painted stone sills and wedge lintels. The building has a shared chimney on the right and a gable chimney in front of the ridge on the left. The rear of the building includes an inserted glazed doorway, a flush sash window with 12 panes, another with four panes on the second storey, and two four-pane casements on the third storey, all with damaged wooden sills and cambered brick heads. Additionally, there is a small two-storey outshut on the east side. The interior has been rebuilt to maintain a similar style but lacks significant original features.
