Description

Number 80 Street is a mid- to late-18th century town house, now used as an office. It is located on Watergate Street in Chester. The house is constructed of Flemish bond brown brick, with a grey slate roof. It has three principal storeys and an attic storey. The front features a painted sandstone plinth, a replaced glazed door in an altered opening approached by three stone steps, a modern shopfront, and two flush sash windows to the second and third storeys. These windows, now with four panes, have painted stone sills and wedge lintels with false keystones. A moulded cornice, also of painted stone, runs along the top of the front elevation. The attic has two altered window openings – the right-hand one with a four-pane fixed light, and the left-hand one filled with glass bricks. A chimney is located at the left gable. A rear wing has been removed, and a garage constructed of concrete blocks and asbestos has been inserted. Visible from the rear are an altered flush sash window to the second storey and a sash window of twelve panes to the third storey. The attic window on the rear is bricked up. The interior contains no visible features of special interest.
