Description
The wall in front of Watergate House garden, dating from around 1820 and likely designed by Thomas Harrison, is a significant structure. It is built of Flemish bond brown brick resting on an ashlar sandstone plinth. The wall serves the garden of Watergate House, while the section adjacent to Norroy House, which is not included in this listing, features sandstone squared rubble that has largely been replaced with brown brick in English garden wall bond, including an inserted arched opening. The wall stands between 8 and 12 feet high and follows the slope of the street, with a plain sandstone coping at the top.
