Description
This is a town house, dating from around 1780, and now used as an office. It is constructed from brown brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a grey slate roof. The exterior features a painted stone plinth, a replaced single-pane cellar window, and a recessed porch to the east with Ionic-style pilasters, a pediment, and four stone steps leading to a door consisting of one horizontal panel above four fielded panels, and an overlight with Victorian stained glass. There are two recessed sash windows on the first storey and three on each of the upper storeys, all with removed glazing bars. The windows have painted stone sills and wedge lintels, topped by a cornice. Two brick chimneys are located on the west gable. The rear of the building has a long, irregular two-storey extension to the east. The main block projects slightly to the west with a bowed face to the rear, featuring a tripartite sash window with a 5;15;5 pane arrangement on the first storey, replaced two-pane sashes on the upper storeys, and a replaced fixed light serving the upper landing. Inside, the front room on the first storey has architraves around the door and windows, with roses at the upper corners. A door with five fielded panels leads to the stairwell. The rear room in the main block features a door with five fielded panels, a fireplace with short Doric pilasters, a bowed rear wall, a cornice, and an open-string staircase with a curtail step, stick balusters, a swept handrail with a wreath at the base, and access to the third storey. The second storey front room has panelled areas beneath the window and in the embrasure. The rear room in the main block has a bowed rear wall with a panelled embrasure to the sash window, five-panel doors, and the staircase continues to the third storey which has doors of four fielded panels.
