Description
Sandhole Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1672, with some 20th-century alterations. It features a timber-framed structure on a stone base, with some brick repairs. The roof is covered with corrugated iron over thatch, and there are brick chimneys at the gables. The layout follows a 2-room baffle entry plan. The main portion is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with eight by two regular small frames. It has three-light metal casements, two on the ground floor and one breaking the wall plate, along with a half-glazed door at the right end behind a flimsy porch. The lower one-bay section to the right is also timber-framed and includes a casement and a glazed door. The interior has not been inspected, but a provisional list notes chamfered ceiling beams and a wide fireplace with a stone jamb featuring a corbel engraved with "IM 1672." There is also a carved wooden corbel on the wall post and original purlins.
