Description

Onston Hall is an early 19th-century hall constructed of Flemish bond red brick with buff sandstone dressings. The building has a hipped Welsh slate roof and two brick chimneys. The west front is symmetrical, with three bays, and two storeys. It features a stone plinth, a moulded cornice, and a low blocking course. The windows are recessed 12-pane sashes within flat gauged brick surrounds and stone sills. The central bay is distinguished by an architrave referencing the Tower of the Winds and a triangular pediment. An oak six-panel door is accessed by two stone steps and is topped by a semi-circular fanlight with radial glazing bars. A 12-pane sash and a dormer window are positioned above. A two-storey canted bay window extends from the rear central bay. Inside, the entrance hall contains an open-string staircase with plain balusters, a mahogany handrail, and stone treads, along with six-panel doors.
