Description

The Tattenhall War Memorial is a cross dedicated in 1922, with a second dedication plate added after 1945. It is believed to have been designed by architect D. Minshull and erected by Cleggs of Chester, masons. The memorial features a sandstone Celtic cross with a tapered shaft, approximately 5 metres high, which rises from a deep plinth with chamfered corners, set upon a stepped stone dais. The north-west face of the cross shaft has a carved cross motif, beneath which is the inscription 'REQUISCANT IN PACE'. The face of the plinth includes a dedication plate listing those who died in the Great War, with an additional plate to the right commemorating those lost in the Second World War.
