Description
The gate piers and wing walls to Tattenhall Hall were likely built in 1858 by James Harrison for Robert Barbour. They are made of red sandstone ashlar. The end piers sit on moulded stone plinths and have plain bodies, with a Greek cross shape in plan. They feature projecting moulded capstones and ball finials that have central raised bands on stands. The low curving wing walls, which connect the piers, have triangular and beaded coping and are similar in design to the gate piers. The existing 20th-century timber and metal gates are not included in this listing. This structure is noted for its group value context.
