Description

This is an Italianate suburban villa, dating from around 1850. It is situated in Curzon Park North, Chester. The original design included a stable wing, which was later converted into a separate dwelling in the 20th century. The exterior is rusticated render with grey slate roofs. The main house features a round archway containing a 6-panel door, with a blank fanlight above and a projecting one-storey wing to the right. The main block is two storeys high, with a tower that rises an additional storey. Many of the windows have quadrant corners at the top; the narrower windows are round-arched. The ground floor features a rectangular sash window and a range of two-pane windows. The one-storey wing on the right has a balcony supported by ornate wrought-iron brackets. Additional features include wrought-iron railings, French doors to the balcony and above the entrance, and hipped roofs. The two bays to the left of the entrance have boldly projecting boxed eaves on ornate brackets. A simple pediment sits above the French window above the entrance. The tower has a pair of round-arched two-pane windows and a hipped roof mirroring the design of the main block. A coach house and hayloft, located to the left, have been converted into a cottage. The interior has not been inspected.
