Description
The tomb and monument to Henry Raikes is located in the north part of Overleigh Cemetery. It was built in 1857 and is dedicated to Henry Raikes, who served as Chancellor of the Chester Diocese. The design was created by T.M. Penson, with the effigy and carved panels crafted by Thomas Earp. The structure is made of yellow sandstone and features an effigy on a table tomb that is sheltered under an arched canopy. The tomb includes carved panels depicting the Crucifixion on the north side and Christ healing on the south side. An inscription on the monument reads: "HENRY RAIKES CHANCELLOR OF DIOCESE WHO DIED 28TH NOVEMBER 1854 AGED 72 YEARS."
