Description

No. 4 High Street is a mid-18th century house that has been altered and is now used as a shop. It is constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond and features a hipped grey slate roof. The building has three storeys and three windows. The lower storey has been modified with a shop front added on top. The corners of the building have rusticated quoins, and there is a lintel band at the third storey with an altered parapet above it. The second storey has deep four-pane casements, which were likely originally small-pane windows, while the third storey features square four-pane sash windows. The casements and sashes are nearly flush with the wall, and the window openings have rusticated wedge lintels with raised keystones and projecting stone cills, all of which are painted. The interior has not been inspected. The building is listed for its group value.
