Description
This is a cattle bridge across the Shropshire Union Canal, located about 3 yards downstream of Stanthorne Lock, and it was built around 1793. The bridge is constructed of red English garden wall bond brick with stone dressings. It features a single span arch with a basket arch made of brick voussoirs. Above the arch, there is a stone band that marks the lower level of the parapet, which has chamfered stone coping. The retaining walls on either side of the bridge are slightly canted forward and end in square piers topped with pyramidal stone caps.
