Description
The medieval cross located in St Edith's Churchyard, south of the church, is made of red sandstone. The octagonal shaft was replaced or recut in 1896, and the head of the cross is missing. The restored plinth is set on a square base consisting of four sandstone steps. It is locally reputed to have been used as a Plague Cross, where food and water were left for those infected.
