Description
The Old School House, built in 1836, was originally the schoolmaster's house and schoolroom. It is constructed of brick and features a hipped grey slate roof with a central rectangular brick chimney. The building has a symmetrical front that is three storeys high and three windows wide. A projecting gabled porch made of brick has a Tudor arched opening. The front windows are Gothick casements with mock bar-tracery heads, camber arches, and stone cills, while the windows on the sides and rear have been altered. The boarded door has also been changed. At the back, there is a flat-roofed double garage that is not prominent.
Inside, the lower storey includes two large chamfered oak ceiling beams in the back room. In the former schoolroom, a flat ceiling has been added, which is said to conceal unusual trusses.
