Description
Oaktree Cottage is a model cottage from the mid-19th century, part of the Cholmondeley Castle Estate. It is built of irregular bond brown brick and has a slate roof. The cottage is two storeys tall with one-storey wings and features a symmetrical design. There is an open-pediment gable facing the road, with deeply projecting boxed eaves and verges, the eaves resting on a band of two projecting courses. The cottage has decorative bargeboards and finials, and a central chimney with three separate square flues. The central section is gabled while the wings are hipped. The door in the right wing has been replaced. A central canted bay window with a hip roof is present, featuring two 2-light casements above. The bay window and the 2-light casements on the front and side of the central portion are made of cast iron with octagonal and small diamond panes, and there are lead rolls at the hips. This cottage is considered a pretty example of its type. The interior has not been inspected.
