Description

This is a late 17th-century barn and shippon, located on the south-west side of Aston Lane in Sutton. It is constructed of brick with a graded grey slate roof. The building is L-shaped, comprising a shippon and stable wing to the left and a barn wing to the right.

The left wing has boarded doors and casement windows to the lower storey, rectangular loading doors and loophole vents to the upper storey, and three oak-framed gabled dormers in the attic. The right wing (originally the barn) features an altered three-quarter-height threshing porch with a lean-to slate roof, a stone plinth, some flush quoins, stone-coped gables, and inserted hopper casements under cambered arches. It also has two boarded loading doors to the upper storey, an upper section of the original threshing porch, and loophole vents.
