Description

The churchyard wall and lychgate located to the north and east of St Peter's Church were likely built in the late 17th century, with repairs made over time. The lychgate was constructed in 1908. The wall and the plinth wall of the lychgate are made of red sandstone, while the lychgate itself is framed in oak and topped with a red tile roof. The churchyard wall features coursed tooled sandstone in large blocks, and the quadrant wings and plinth walls of the lychgate are made of ashlar. The coping of the wall is steeply weathered with a roll top, and the wall stands approximately 1.2 meters high. The lychgate is simple yet substantial, featuring gablets. On the left plinth wall, there is an inscription that reads, "THIS STONE WAS LAID BY ARTHUR HERVEY TALBOT ESQ OF ASTON HALL MARCH 1908."
