Description

Frodsham Weir, built in 1785 and altered since, is a significant structure located on the Weaver Navigation. It is constructed of coursed stone and measures approximately 45 metres in width with a curved design. At the south end of the weir, there are two sluices, each about 5 metres wide, featuring stone piers with semicircular cutwaters and a stone abutment. A wooden gangway supported by I-beams and plain square columns, likely made of cast iron with diagonal braces, crosses over the weir and the sluiceways. The weir serves as the outfall from the Weaver Navigation to the River Weaver, with a fall of approximately 1 metre.
