Description
The Boatman's Shelter, located on the east bank of the Weaver Navigation, is a disused structure from the mid-19th century. It is built of red-brown brick and features a slate pyramidal roof that is felted. The shelter has a boarded door set beneath a tooled sandstone lintel. There are boarded-up windows, one each on the front, back, and sides, all positioned under cambered skewback arches. The left front corner and the head of the rear window have been rebuilt using blue brick. This building is listed primarily for its historic interest, as the Weaver Navigation served as a significant commercial waterway for boats transporting salt during the 19th century.
