Description
The barn located 60 metres south of Greenhills Farmhouse is a threshing barn dating from around 1700, with some alterations. It is constructed of brown brick in English garden wall bond and features a grey slate roof. The barn is two storeys high and has central threshing porches at both the front and back, supported by large triangular buttresses. The left front buttress shows some damage, and both rear buttresses have been modified to accommodate the roof structure of an adjoining mid-20th century shed. The front has an oak lintel and a lean-to porch roof, with external steps added to the right end. There are round owl-holes near the apex of each gable. Inside, the loft floor has been extended across the threshing bay, and the oak roof structure includes purlins resting on two queen-strut trusses.
