Description
Hoole Lane Lock is a canal lock built around 1775 by Samuel Weston for the Chester Canal Company, with later repairs. It is constructed from red sandstone and brick. The lock features a pair of timber upper gates on the east side, which have been repaired, and a pair of mid-20th century steel lower gates. The lock basin retains its stone copings and walls, and there is a replaced footbridge along with a stone retaining wall to the towpath and brick pavements.
