Description
A pair of townhouses dating to around 1800, along with associated walls and railings, are situated in Chester. The properties are stucco-faced with a grey slate roof. They have cellars and extend over three storeys, originally with four windows each. Number 129 features nearly flush four-pane sash windows, with the sash boxes concealed, and a six-panel door beneath a stilted one-pane fanlight set within a slightly recessed round-arched recess. Number 131 has four-pane recessed sash windows and a four-panel door within a recessed porch featuring semicircular pilasters. A simple plinth runs along the ground floor sill level. The first floor has four four-pane sashes, and a frieze and cornice above. The second floor is treated as an attic with short, simple pilasters and four eight-pane sashes. There are three ridge chimneys. The interiors remain uninspected. Subsidiary features include a rendered area wall, likely originally painted and supported by stone octagonal gate piers, though the gates themselves have been removed. These architectural features contribute to the group value of the buildings.
