Description

This is a fragment of a plague cross located to the south of Number 7 on Newcastle Road in Astbury Marsh. The structure consists of a square stone shaft set on a stone base. Its exact date is uncertain, but it is likely not earlier than 1559, which is when the first major outbreak of plague was recorded in the town.
