Description

The cross base and shaft in the churchyard of St. Mary is a 16th-century structure that now serves as a sundial. It is made of yellow sandstone ashlar and features two octagonal steps leading up to an 18th-century octagonal pillar, which supports the sundial. The base of the pillar has end stops and a moulded capital. At the top, there is a circular copper plate inscribed with "Jas. Green Fecit," although the gnomon is missing.
