Description

Greenbank is a house, later used as a post office, dating from the early 18th century. The house is constructed of red English garden wall bond brick with ashlar dressings, and has a 20th-century tile roof. It is two storeys with an attic. The front of the house features ashlar quoins at the corners and an ashlar string course separating the ground and first floors. The entrance has an ashlar surround with a 20th-century glazed door. To the right is a 20th-century segmental bowed oriel shop window that covers two original window openings, and to the left is a 3-light 20th-century metal-framed window covering two original window openings. The first floor has two blocked lateral lights with flat arches and two sash windows with similar arched heads set within C19 ashlar sills, located near the center. A string course separates this floor from the attic, which contains three 3-light casement windows of 20th-century date. A velux window is centrally positioned on the roof, and there is a chimney stack on the left-hand gable end. This building is included on the list for its group value.
