Description
Canal Bridge Number 29 is a canal roving bridge built around 1830 by William Crosley for the Macclesfield Canal Company. It is constructed from hammer-dressed buff sandstone and features a horseshoe elliptical arch with a prominent keystone. The bridge has chamfered coping at road level that supports a plain parapet with rounded coping, which is joined by iron staples. The ends of the bridge are marked by square pilasters. On the north-east corner, there is a curving cobbled ramp between walls with rounded copings, allowing the towpath to cross over the bridge. This ramp leads down to a straight ramp at the north-west corner, which is accompanied by a wall along the canal side.
