Description
Broomfield Cottage and Newbury Cottage are mid-17th century cottages with later additions, located on Marsh Lane in Edleston. They feature a combination of rendered brick and timber framing with plastered brick nogging. Originally thatched, the roofs have been replaced with tiles and corrugated metal. The cottages are single storey with an attic and consist of three bays, with 20th-century additions to the east cottage. The east cottage displays timbers in its facade and gable in small framing, while the west cottage is primarily rendered brickwork. Some windows have leaded lattice glazing, while others are cast-iron lattice casements, with upper windows located in the gables and dormers. The west cottage has a roof covered in corrugated metal sheeting, and the east cottage has a tiled roof. Both cottages feature old brick stacks. Inside, there are bevelled beams, exposed ceiling joists, and an inglenook fireplace.
