Description
Park Mill is a silk weaving mill, dated 1853, that has been converted for use as offices, although it was empty during an inspection in April 1992. The building features a brick exterior on a stone plinth and is topped with a Welsh slate roof. The internal structure includes cast-iron columns that support timber beams. The mill is a long, rectangular block with a shorter wing facing Hobson Street, which encloses a courtyard. There is a former boiler house that projects from the west side.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a 19-window range on the south side, with the eastern wing featuring an 11-window range. The main entrance is located in the center of the eastern wing, framed by a chamfered stone architrave that has the date incised on a tablet above it. The windows throughout the building are 16-paned, equipped with wood glazing bars, stone sills, and flat-arched heads. Additionally, there is an integral square section chimney at the northwest angle, accompanied by a projecting former engine house.
