Description
Town House Farmhouse is an early 18th-century building that was remodeled by the Crewe Estate in 1874, as indicated on the porch. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with both slate and tiled roofs. The farmhouse is three storeys high and has four bays, with an "L" shaped plan that includes a two-storey, three-bay wing to the north.
The entrance features a heavy framed and gabled timber porch, which displays the Crewe Estate emblem and the date in the apex. The door consists of six panels, four of which are glazed, and it is framed by an external architrave. Most of the windows are three-light flush casements with glazing bars, stone sills, and flat cambered arches. The center bays are topped with a gable that has a carved barge board and an estate emblem at the apex.
A moulded brick modillion eaves cornice supports a moulded cast iron gutter, and this modillion detail continues along the verges of both flanking gables. The ridge is adorned with crested tiles. The north wing features a six-panel door set in a heavy dowelled frame and has a roof covered with old tiles.
Inside, the farmhouse includes moulded and chamfered beams, along with six-panel doors.
