Description
Finney Green Cottage is a former farmhouse, now a house, dating from 1701 but likely originating in the early 17th century, with later 18th-century additions and 20th-century alterations. The exterior is roughcast, partly covering timber framing, and has a Kerridge stone-slate roof, along with a stone ridge and four brick chimneys. The building has a long, rectangular layout. The front of the house is a 7-bay arrangement, with the left two bays concealed by an 18th-century outshut featuring small, multi-paned windows. Adjacent bays incorporate a glazed verandah that reveals exposed timber framing behind a 4-light diamond mullioned window with leaded glass, and a 2-light casement window. A restored plaque reading “TDH 1701” is positioned centrally. A gabled projection, containing 2-light casement windows and a door on the left side, marks the fifth bay. The two bays to the right are 20th-century extensions. Inside, heavy chamfered ceiling beams and joists are visible.
