Description
Hagg Bank Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1695, with 18th century and late 19th century additions and alterations. It is built of coursed, squared sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings, topped by a Welsh slate roof and featuring two brick chimneys. The core of the building consists of a two-room parlour wing forming an L-shaped farm, with additions on the south and west sides. The single bay gabled front has kneelers, bead-moulded coping, and ball finials, and features late 19th century wooden casements. At the rear, there is a 4-light rubble stone window with chamfered mullions and a hood mould, along with a similar 3-light window to the left that likely represents the original design. To the left, there is an 18th century extension, set back, which includes a moved original moulded stone doorcase with a raised centre displaying the date, though this is obscured by a late 19th century porch.
Inside, the original layout remains intact, with a parlour at the front, a larder at the rear, and two bedrooms above. The dogleg stairwell reveals some timber framing and features an original door with six flat panels and fluted rails. In the parlour, an ovolo-moulded beam and traces of a corner fireplace are still visible.
