Description

The Grey Cottage is a house dating from circa 1830, with a matching addition to the left side. It is constructed of coursed, squared sandstone rubble with a Kerridge stone-slate roof, and features two stone chimneys. The house has a rectangular plan and a symmetrical three-bay facade facing the road. It has tripartite horned sash windows with glazing bars set in plain reveals, arranged around a blocked, semi-circular headed opening in the centre, which has a prominent keystone and moulded springers. The entrance, in the right-hand gable end, has a plain stone surround, a moulded flat pediment above a fanlight with Gothick tracery, and a glass door. The windows are 12-pane sashes. A one-bay addition to the left-hand gable end has similar windows.
