Description
Holly Bank Farm is a farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century, with 19th-century additions and alterations. It is constructed of timber framing with whitewashed brick infill and has a tiled roof. The layout follows a three-cell baffle-entry plan.
The entrance front features a stone plinth, with a door located centrally, set within a framework of 13 by 3 small framing cells, complete with angle braces at the corners and at the fifth and thirteenth uprights. The ground floor has two and three-light 19th-century casement windows. Above, there is a mezzanine 2-light staircase window and three 3-light gabled dormers. Flanking the main structure are two-storey additions from the 19th century; the right addition has a gabled roof and cambered headed windows, while the left addition features flat lintels.
At the rear, there are 19th-century additions on both sides and a 20th-century outshut to the left of centre. The timber-framed section to the right of centre has 5 by 3 small framing cells and angle braces on the second post from the left. Inside, the ground floor displays chamfered beams, and the first floor has a queen post truss with angle braces, struts, and wind-bracing.
