Description
Oak Farm is a farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century, with later additions and alterations from the late 17th century, mid-18th century, and 20th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill and a slate roof, designed in an H-shaped plan. The northern part of the building is the original one-cell, two-storey block, while a later mid-17th century two-cell addition forms the central section. The southern part dates from the mid-18th century.
On the north side, there is a stone plinth and brickwork in English garden wall bond on the ground floor, with corner posts. The first floor has a slight jetty, an ovolo-moulded bressumer, and five by two cells of small framing with angle braces. The left gable end has a stone plinth and five by three cells of small framing with angle braces, along with a chimney breast added in the 19th or 20th century. The late 17th-century range to the left was refaced in the early 19th century, likely when the former infill of the right-hand timber-framed block was replaced. The windows were updated in the 19th century.
Inside, the ground floor features chamfered ceiling beams.
