Description

Canal Bridge Number 22, located 200 meters north-west of Clark Green Farmhouse, was built around 1830 by William Crosley for the Macclesfield Canal Company. The bridge is constructed from hammer-dressed buff sandstone and features a horseshoe elliptical arch with chamfered coping at road level. It has a plain parapet with rounded coping that ends in square pilasters. This bridge is a standard design for the canal, with six other complete examples still existing in Adlington.
