Description

Canal bridge number 25 was built around 1830 by William Crosley for the Macclesfield Canal Company. It is constructed from hammer-dressed buff sandstone and features a horseshoe elliptical arch with chamfered coping at road level. The bridge has a plain parapet with rounded coping that ends in square pilasters. There are steps against the southwest face of the bridge. This structure is a standard design for the canal, with six other complete examples located in Adlington.
