Description
Mere Covert Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century. It features a timber-framed structure with brick infill, red English garden wall bond brick, and a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and follows a two-cell, baffle entry plan. The entrance front consists of nine by two cells of small framing, with angled and tension bracing at the corners and center. The door is located to the right of center, with three-light casements to the left and a two-light casement to the right. On the first floor, there is a two-light casement to the left. The right gable end has six by two bays of small framing and features two two-light casements at the center of the first floor. The gable is supported by collar and queen struts. The left gable end has a 19th-century outshut at ground floor level, with a clapboarded gable. The rear facade displays 18th-century brickwork, with a doorway to the right of center, two two-light casements on the ground floor, and one two-light casement on the first floor. Inside, there are chamfered ceiling beams in the parlour and a wind-braced roof.
