Description
Nos. 76, 78, and 80 on King Street in Knutsford are a terrace of three houses that have been converted into shops. The buildings are dated 1785, as indicated on the rainwater head, and have undergone later alterations. They are constructed of brick and topped with a slate roof. The terrace consists of three single-room, double-pile units, rising three storeys high and featuring a three-window range. The ground floor has inserted shop fronts, with the one for No. 78 dating from the late 19th century or early 20th century. The upper floors have renewed windows in their original wide openings, which are topped with flat-arched gauged brick heads that include key stones. The central windows are now tripartite sashes, while the others have wood mullions and transoms. A moulded stone cornice runs along the top, and there are central and end wall stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
