Description
93 King Street is a house that is now used for commercial purposes. It dates from the late 17th century, with earlier 17th-century origins and later modifications. The building features painted brick over remnants of an earlier timber frame and has a heavy slate roof. It has two storeys with an attic and a two-window range. The ground floor has an inserted shop front, while above are inserted three-light windows, with the segmentally-arched heads of earlier windows still visible. There is a scalloped brick frieze above the first floor, and slight timbering can be seen in two gabled dormers, likely added in the 19th century. Inside, traces of the framing with some brick nogging are visible, along with a late 18th-century staircase that has turned spindles and a heavy moulded rail.
