Description

Macclesfield Canal Bridge Number 55 is a road bridge over the canal, built in 1831 and designed by engineer William Crosley. It is constructed of reddish-buff ashlar gritstone and features a horseshoe elliptical arch. The bridge has battered abutments that are curved in plan, with square end piers. There is a plain band at road level and stone parapets with plain copings.
