Description
The signpost at the south end of Long Lane is a late 19th-century road sign. It is made of black and white painted cast-iron and features an octagonal post with a shield marked CCC at its midpoint, topped with a moulded cap. This cap supports three flat cast-iron direction indicators that have raised black capital letters on a white background. The indicators read "Ridley, Bickerton & Broxton" with "A534" above and "Wrexham" below (pointing west), "Acton & Nantwich" with "A534" above (pointing east), and "Spurstow 4½, Bunbury 5, Beeston 6" (pointing north-west). The direction indicators and clipped road number plates have scalloped outer corners and are secured with nuts and bolts. At the top of the hollow post, a ball finial sits on a vase moulded support.
