Description
The stable block at Mere Country Club and Golf Course, dating from around 1834, is constructed of red Flemish bond brick with stone dressings and blue brick diapering. It features a single-storey courtyard plan with a tower above the entrance arch. The east front showcases a central Tudor archway, flanked by square turrets with stone quoins that transition into octagonal turrets. Above the entrance, there is a slightly recessed tower stage with stone quoins. A one-light casement window with a hood mould and stone surround is present, along with a circular clock face; the lower half is embedded in the brick wall, while the upper half is set in a square lead cupola with two moulded quadrant stages and a small semi-circular cap topped with a weather vane. The brick walls on either side are divided by pilaster buttresses with stone quoins and cornices that have octagonal domed tops. The central bays on both sides contain single-light casements with stone surrounds and small decorative gables. Additionally, there are small octagonal turrets at the left and right-hand corners, also featuring stone quoins, cornices, and domed caps.
