Description

The Pigeon Loft at Home Farm, now converted into a workmen's bothy, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of red English garden wall bond brick, with a slate and lead roof and stone dressings. The building is hexagonal and has two storeys. On the south side, there is a splayed head door, and a stone ledge below the eaves features entries for birds in the center of each face above the ledge. 19th-century windows have been inserted into the ground floor and first floor of the north face, as well as the first floor of the southeast face. There is also a 19th-century fireplace located in the ground floor angle of the west chimney stack.
