Description
43 King Street, formerly known as the King's Head Inn, is a building that likely dates from the late 17th century. It has three low storeys and is constructed of brick, featuring stone quoins at the corners. The facade facing King Street includes a central doorway with pilasters and a heavy cornice, a 19th-century bar window to the right, and a three-light mullioned window to the left. On the upper floors, there are two three-light mullioned windows on each level, with moulded wooden mullions and a sash window in the center. The proportions of the windows are very low. The facade on Freckleton Street is made of older stone, and the interior features ceiling beams. The group of buildings from Nos 33 to 43 (odd) exhibits a strong Georgian character, complemented by Nos 1 and 3 Princes Street.
