Description

Greystones is a house dating to around 1800, with alterations made around 1860. It is constructed of whitewashed rubble with painted ashlar dressings and ashlar quoins, and has a Welsh slate roof with a chimney of coursed squared sandstone. The house has two storeys and three windows. The central entrance features a six-panel door with a plain overlight, set within a painted ashlar surround of pilasters and an entablature with a prominent cornice that sweeps to a high coping. Painted stone surrounds the margined sash windows, and to similar sashes within a canted bay to the right of the door. The bay features a plinth, eaves band, and a flat roof, along with projecting quoins. The roof is pyramidal, with a corniced ridge chimney. A rear porch is located within an outshut. The interior includes a dogleg staircase with block tread ends and a narrow handrail on stick balusters, and late 19th-century chimney-pieces.
