Description

Ivy House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed of brick in an irregular bond pattern; the right return is rendered. The roof is covered in Welsh slate, with brick chimneys. The house has two storeys and three windows across a three-bay facade, with an irregular arrangement of window openings. The original windows were arched with flat brick, and most are now blocked, though some have been replaced with sash windows incorporating glazing bars and flat brick arches. A 20th-century gabled porch is located between the second and third bays, containing a six-panel door and overlight in an altered doorcase with panelled reveals. The ground-floor windows are set beneath a brick band, and the first-floor windows are partly covered by a dentilled brick eaves cornice. Pilasters are present at the ends of the building. The steeply pitched roof has swept eaves and late 19th-century ridge tiles. Brick chimneys with dentilled cornices are located at the ends of the house and between the first and second bays. The right return gable is rendered except at the edges, showing tumbled-in brickwork. A late 20th-century conservatory has been added to the right return.
