Description
Manor House is a late 18th-century house located on the north side of Nesham Place in Houghton-le-Spring. It has a rendered exterior and a roof made of Cumbrian slate, featuring an L-shaped plan. The building is three storeys tall with three windows on the main part and two storeys with two windows on the smaller section.
The three-storey section has a central four-panelled door beneath an oblong fanlight, set in a deep panelled reveal and framed by a Tuscan doorcase with a canopy supported by wide brackets. Above the door is a round-headed window. Most windows are sash style with flat heads and projecting cills, except for the first and third windows on the second floor, which are horizontal sliding sashes. There are two dentilled brick chimneys at the ends of this section.
The two-storey part features a central door similar to the main entrance, flanked by sash windows. Its roof has flat stone gable coping and one chimney at each end and one at the rear. The property is enclosed by alternately spearheaded railings on a dwarf wall.
