Description
The Bolam tomb, located 200 metres west of the South-East Lodge at Bishopwearmouth Cemetery in Sunderland, is a chest tomb with a kerbstone dedicated to John Bolam (1815-1885) and members of his family. It is made of polished red granite. The kerb features a trefoil roll moulding and trefoil-gabled angle dwarf piers that surround the chest, which is raised on a platform. The chest has a chamfered plinth adorned with a triglyph frieze and patera, along with a dentilled cornice. The hipped coping is topped with a trefoil ridge roll moulding. Inscriptions are present on the sides of the tomb.
