Description

Tunstall Lodge is a house built in 1807. It is rendered, with a roof of Welsh slate. The house is two storeys high and has five windows. The central entrance features a glazed 4-panelled door, above which is a patterned oblong fanlight, all within a Greek Doric porch with fluted columns. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars in plain reveals, and projecting stone cills. There is intersecting tracery to the Venetian window above the door. On the first floor, the first and second windows appear to have simulated sashes (trompe l'oeil effect). The ground floor rear windows are horizontal sliding sashes. The roof has wide eaves, and two corniced ashlar chimneys are located at each end and rear of the building. Inside, there are staircases on either side of a full-height entrance hall.
