Description
The chimney located to the west of the boiler house at Ryhope Pumping Station is a water pumping station chimney built between 1866 and 1869. It was designed by Hawksley for the Sunderland and South Shields Water Company. The structure is made of brick and features cast-iron cresting. A high panelled corniced plinth supports a tall, tapered octagonal chimney that is topped with a prominent cornice and ornamental cresting.
